If the flange is lower than or flush with the floor they make foam rings that cover the distance for a proper seal.

Secure toilet flange to rotted floor.

Screw the new flange to the floor using a screwdriver and the new screws that came in the product package. Screw the toilet flange onto the concrete use tapcon anchors or a similar type of masonry concrete screws to fasten the toilet flange to the concrete slab. Lift the toilet off the flange and set it aside. Place the super ring replacement toilet ring over the waste line making sure the mounting bolts are in the same place as the original bolts were one bolt on each side of the flange.

Make sure that there are no spaces between the flange and the floor before screwing it into place. If you discover minor rot around the toilet flange install a closet flange support under the flange to transfer the weight of the toilet to solid wood. Slide the two closet bolts in their slots and align their caps with the holes. You can leave the new toilet flange off stub the new soil pipe up to the floor and then install the new flange after you have finished repairing the floor.

If a proper seal is not achieved it will result in leaking. Cdx plywood works well here because of the recurring chance for water damage. The new bolts will secure the flange against the bottom of the toilet. Put the toilet mounting bolts in the flange pointing up and use some wax from the old wax ring to hold them in place.

Soak up the last of the water inside the tank with a sponge wringing it out into a bucket. With the toilet flange in place you are ready to install the toilet with a new wax ring. Remove the two closet bolt nuts securing the toilet base to the floor. Cut out a new piece of subfloor from the proper size plywood or particle board.

Closet toilet flanges must be 1 4 above a finished floor. Wrench this is needed to unfasten the existing bolts on your toilet and around the flange. If only the area directly below the flange is rotted you can install a two piece steel closet flange support. Flush the toilet to empty the tank.

Attach using your used or new screws and bolts. Toilet flange bolts have new bolts on hand in case your existing parts are stripped or rusty. Screwdriver use a multi bit screwdriver to loosen screws and remove the toilet. Screw the new flange into the subfloor.

If using a plastic flange ring be careful not to crack the ring by screwing the anchors in too far.
